Juventus and Manchester United target Niklas Sule will join Borussia Dortmund as a free agent at the end of the season when his contract with Bayern Munich expires.

The Germany international had been linked with moves to the Allianz Stadium or Old Trafford as was one of the most sought-after free agents ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

However, both European giants will be forced to look elsewhere as the 26-year-old has reached an agreement to join Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

“We’re delighted that we have managed to sign Niklas Süle, a Germany international, on a free transfer and have tied the player down for four years,” said Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc.

“Niklas has shown during the course of personal talks that he is really keen on Borussia Dortmund. He possesses a lot of experience, composure in his build-up play and the necessary physicality to take the next step with us from this summer onwards.”

Juventus will be looking for a new centre back at the end of the season if Matthijs de Ligt leaves Turin in June.

The Netherlands international has a €125m clause included in his contract starting from the summer and has been linked with Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Juventus have already secured the services of Federico Gatti who will move to Turin in the summer, ending the season on loan at Frosinone.

  1. Why would Bayern let a good player leave on a free? They are a very cleverly run club and always seem to keep the best and sell the rest. There must be some kind of catch
