Italy international Marco Verratti has officially extended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain to June 2026.

This is practically committing the rest of his career to the Ligue 1 giants, as he is already 30 years old.

The new deal adds another two years to the previous contract, which had been due to expire in June 2024.

Verratti joined Paris Saint-Germain in July 2012 from hometown club Pescara, before he had ever played in Serie A.

He went on to win eight Ligue 1 titles, six editions of the Coupe de France, six Coupe de la Ligue trophies and nine French Supercups.

Verratti starts this evening for what will be his 399th game in the PSG jersey.

If Verratti is overrated, what does that then say for 99.99% of the other midfielders in world football?
