Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Italy international Jorginho from Chelsea.

The former Napoli and Hellas Verona’s contract at Stamford Bridge was due expire in June, so the Blues reached an agreement with their city rivals over a January sale.

Jorginho has joined the Gunners for circa €13.5m including add-ons, according to reports.

The Italy international will wear Arsenal’s No.20 shirt and has signed a contract until June 2024.

The 31-year-old won the Champions League and Europa League with Chelsea, scoring 29 goals in 213 appearances with the Blues.

He had been linked with a return to Serie A, especially if he’d be available as a free agent at the end of the season.

The Italy international scored nine Serie A goals in 151 appearances with Hellas Verona and Napoli before a €57m move to Stamford Bridge in 2018, when he joined his ex-Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri.

He was part of the Italy squad that won UEFA Euro 2020.
