The Italian football federation has officially announced their intention to bid for the right to host Euro 2032.

The bidding process for the hosting rights for the 2028 and 2032 European Championships starts on March 23, with the deadline to present a completed project set for April 12 2023. UEFA’s final decision will be made in September of the same year.

The upcoming Euro 2024 tournament will be hosted in Germany, returning to a single nation after the cross-European hosting style used in Euro 2020.

As announced by the FIGC, the Italian FA has expressed to UEFA their interest in hosting Euro 2032, well in advance of the March deadline. Italy has previously hosted the competition on two occasions in the past, in 1968 and 1980, as well as four matches during Euro 2020.

The statement also highlights the FIGC’s intention to modernise existing stadiums or build new ones around Italy once UEFA’s final decision has been made, in order to bring their quality up to a modern standard.

  1. Politic in Italy is disgusting, club pushed and pushing to build new stadium where rejected, now you need to build new stadium to get hosting right.

  2. Let’s hope so. A complete rebuild of the infrastructure is required. It’s ten years away and Italy can do it. And it’s been over 30 years since the last international tournament was hosted in Italy (1990) Since then Italy have played 5 international finals so they have earnt the right. They just have to short out the stadiums.

  3. I am afraid it is not just sorting out the stadiums. We need to get the people back in watching the games as we used to do in the 80’s and 90’s. Clubs need to stop the bad individuals in coming in and promote families to go and watch their clubs and National team. They must not charge too much and promote home talented players. To be honest, we need to go back to basics as it did work for our clubs and country.
