Spezia have officially extended their contract with coach Vincenzo Italiano to June 2023, announcing it with a video of him watching The Wolf of Wall Street.

The decision had been in the air for a few days following meetings to discuss their ambitions going forward under new patron Robert Platek.

Italiano had been linked with Sassuolo, Lazio and others, but has committed himself to Spezia until 2023 with a pay rise, earning just over €1m per season.

The club from Liguria announced it via a video which had the shadow of Italiano’s back and head watching a scene from the movie The Wolf of Wall Street, in which Leonardo Di Caprio’s character announces “I’m not leaving” to great applause. “The show goes on.”

Meanwhile, Spezia also announced that they have activated the purchase option on midfielder Leo Sena following his loan from Atletico Mineiro.
