Belgium have confirmed the appointment of Italian tactician Domenico Tedesco as their new head coach.
The Red Devils fired Roberto Martinez after being knocked out of the World Cup in the group phase.
They have now confirmed the appointment of 37-year-old Tedesco as their new head coach.
“Italian Domenico Tedesco will succeed Roberto Martínez as national coach of the Belgian Red Devils. He will sign a contract with the RBFA until after the 2024 European Championship,” the Belgian FA said in a statement.
“He is known as a modern coach with top-level international experience, who likes to play an offensive style of football with plenty of forward pressure.
“His mission is to qualify the Belgian Red Devils for the EURO 2024 in Germany. The first qualifying match will be played on 24 March in Stockholm against Sweden.”
Born in Rossano, in the province of Cosenza, Calabria, southern Italy, Tedesco has coached, among other cubs, Schalke 04, Spartak Moscow and RB Leipzig.
“For me it is a great honour to be the new head coach of Belgium. I’m really looking forward to the task and I’m extremely motivated. I had a very good feeling right from the first conversation,” said Tedesco.
