Inter have officially extended their contract with coach Simone Inzaghi until June 2026, but President Beppe Marotta assures they ‘hope to continue even more into the future.’

The tactician took over in the summer of 2021 after Antonio Conte won the Scudetto and walked away.

In three years, Inzaghi has already won six trophies with the club, namely the Serie A title, two editions of the Coppa Italia and three consecutive Supercoppa Italiana cups.

President Marotta announced the news at the very start of a press conference this afternoon, just ahead of pre-season training.

“Very little time has passed since the end of a great season where we won another two trophies, the Supercoppa and the Scudetto.

“Today we begin a new journey together, our jersey will be adorned with the tricolore badge and the second star. Along with us, leading the team, we will again have Simone Inzaghi.

“I wish to formally announce that our rapport will continue until June 2026, with the hope to continue even more into the future.”

Marotta reassures Inter fans on Inzaghi and future

Marotta was promoted to the role of President after Suning and the Zhang family lost control of Inter to investment fund Oaktree, having failed to repay a loan.

“Oaktree immediately showed their desire to maintain the club at the top of Italian and European football,” continued Marotta.

“Our majority shareholder guaranteed consistency and stability in running the club and highlighted maintaining maximum competitiveness of sporting performance and continuing the progress towards financial stability.

“This is the best guarantee for Inter and its marvellous fans that it can achieve more important targets.”

For several years, Inter have been effectively self-funding their transfer strategy with sales and bringing in free agents.

That continues this summer, where they have already signed Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi when they were out of contract from Napoli and FC Porto respectively.
