Inter have announced the arrival of Davy Klaassen from Ajax, signing a one-year contract with option to extend.

The rumours of interest only really emerged last night and by this morning he was already in Milan to undergo his medical tests.

The 30-year-old was effectively allowed to leave Ajax for free, as his contract was due to run to the end of the current campaign.

Klaassen had started his career at Ajax, leaving in 2017 for Everton and then with a spell at Werder Bremen before returning to Amsterdam in 2020.

He has 41 senior caps for the Netherlands, scoring 10 goals for his country.

The creative midfielder’s career has been blighted by injury problems.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta had confirmed he wanted to purchase a ‘cherry on the cake’ for their midfield in the final hours of the transfer window.

Other alternatives included Tanguy Ndombele on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
