Inter have officially confirmed the signing of Canada international Tajon Buchanan on a permanent transfer from Belgian Pro League side Club Brugge.

The Nerazzurri are believed to have paid a fee of €7m up front plus an additional €3m in bonuses for Buchanan’s services. The player has signed a four-and-a-half year deal, which will run until the summer of 2028.

Buchanan arrived at Linate airport in Milan on Thursday morning and completed his medical and the signing of his documents later in the day.

The 24-year-old will provide Simone Inzaghi with another option in the right wing-back position, and is expected to compete with Denzel Dumfries for a place in the starting line-up.

Though he is fit, Buchanan is not expected to be involved with the Nerazzurri squad for their Serie A clash against Hellas Verona at San Siro on Saturday afternoon.

Buchanan will become the first ever Canadian to feature in Serie A. To date, he has 35 caps and four goals for his country and also registered an assist for Canada’s first ever goal at the World Cup in 2022.

A statement on Inter’s official club website read: “A long journey that started in Brampton and has taken him all the way to Milano: Tajon’s Nerazzurri dream has only just begun.”
