Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has sprained his left hamstring and will miss the last Serie A match before the break this weekend.

“Hakan Calhanoglu underwent medical tests at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano today,” Inter said in an official statement.

“They revealed that the Turkish midfielder has sprained his left hamstring. His condition will be reassessed next week.”

The Turkey international was introduced in the second half of Inter’s 2-0 win over Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday.

He has entered the second year at the club with one goal and one assist in eight appearances across all competitions.

Calhanoglu joined Inter as a free agent from Milan in 2021, signing a contract until 2024.

The Nerazzurri visit Udinese at the Dacia Arena on Sunday at 11.30 am UK time (12.30 in Italy) and Calhanoglu will likely be replaced by Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The ex-Roma midfielder had started in place for the Turkey international against Viktoria Plzen midweek.

The Nerazzurri have earned 12 points in the opening six Serie A games and are one point behind Andrea Sottil’s Udinese, one of the most surprising sides in Italy’s top flight in this first part of the campaign.

  1. ^acemilan, pathetic accusation – he has a history off hamstring problems and unfortunately it has worsened over time.

  2. I hope we bring back Sensi instead of him, I wish we won’t see him and Gagliardini on the pitch anymore
