Lazio striker Ciro Immobile is officially the 2020 Golden Shoe winner, as Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t even in the Juventus squad to face Roma.

Ronaldo is the only player who could feasibly still catch Immobile on 35 Serie A goals this season, having found the net 31 times already.

However, Maurizio Sarri has rested CR7 for tonight’s final Serie A match against Roma.

That means Immobile finishes as Europe’s top league scorer with 35 goals, ahead of Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski on 34.

He is the third Italian to take this title, after Francesco Totti for Roma in 2006-07 on 26 goals, with Luca Toni crowned the year before for Fiorentina on 31 goals.

Lionel Messi of Barcelona had won the Golden Shoe for three years running, with Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez taking it in 2015-16.

Immobile could also set a new all-time Serie A record this evening for goals scored in a single season, as he is one away from 36, set by Gonzalo Higuain for Napoli in 2016.
