Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned to Milan and his duties as ‘Operating Partner’ and ‘Senior Advisor to Ownership’ have officially been revealed.

RedBird have just confirmed the former striker’s return to San Siro with an official statement where they also explained Ibrahimovic’s duties in his new position.

“As an Operating Partner at RedBird, Ibra will collaborate with RedBird’s global investment team in supporting the firm’s existing investment portfolio across sports, media and entertainment,” the statement reads.

“He will help source and evaluate new investment opportunities for the firm, and will advise RedBird portfolio companies on commercial projects, digital content strategies and strategic brand building initiatives to extend their presence on a global basis.”

The former striker will have a key role at Milan as well, covering different areas at the club, on and off the pitch.

“At AC Milan, Ibra will serve as a Senior Advisor to Ownership, which is led by RedBird and includes the New York Yankees, one of RedBird’s longest standing partners in sports,” RedBird continued.

“Working in close coordination with both AC Milan Ownership and Senior Management, Ibra will play an active role across the Club’s sporting and business operations and will help reinforce the Club’s winning culture. His mandate will include player development and high-performance training, advancing AC Milan’s global brand and commercial interests, and supporting special projects of strategic importance, including the Club’s new stadium.”

This means the Swede will have an active role at both Casa Milan, the club’s headquarters, and Milanello where he will ‘reinforce the Club’s winning culture’ and focus on players’ development.

Apparently, Ibrahimovic has been directly hired by RedBird, which is probably why Milan confirmed the ex-striker’s return by posting the RedBird statement on their official website and didn’t mention Ibra directly on X, formerly Twitter.

Ibrahimovic retired from football this past June confirming his decision after a 1-0 win over Hellas Verona at San Siro.

He scored 156 goals in 283 Serie A games during his playing career and won two Serie A titles at Milan, plus one Supercoppa. He had also lifted the Scudetto three times with Milan’s city rivals Inter before joining Barcelona in 2009.
