Giuseppe Iachini has officially returned to the Fiorentina bench after four months, as Cesare Prandelli resigned on Tuesday morning.
This has been a chaotic campaign for the Tuscans, who sacked Iachini on November 9, 2020.
Prandelli decided to leave the role yesterday, releasing a statement that referenced reasons which “go beyond football.”
“ACF Fiorentina announce that they have entrusted the technical leadership of the First Team to Beppe Iachini,” the club wrote in a statement.
“The coach will direct his first training session at the Davide Astori Sports Centre and will resume contact with the team today.”
As Iachini already knows the squad and is also under contract until June 2021 anyway, he was recalled.
The 56-year-old coach arrived back in Florence on Tuesday evening for a meeting with the club and squad.
His first training session will be this morning, although some of the players are away on international duty.
Fiorentina are fifth from bottom in the Serie A table with 29 points, after seven wins, eight draws and 13 defeats.
