Director of sport Cristiano Giuntoli has officially terminated his contract with Napoli by mutual consent, so can sign a five-year deal with Juventus.
The news had been in the air for some time and took longer than expected, pushing it towards the deadline of midnight on June 30 set by the Bianconeri.
A formal announcement from Napoli confirmed that the termination had been signed, ending the contract a year early.
“Calcio Napoli thank Cristiano Giuntoli for 8 years of collaboration with President Aurelio De Laurentiis, the CEO Andrea Chiavelli and with the coaches who worked with the team.”
This frees him to sign what is expected to be a five-year deal with Juventus that can begin from July 1, the date the transfer market opens.
Giuntoli joined the Partenopei in 2015, having previously worked as director of sport at Carpi and Spezia.
He brought some future stars to Napoli, above all recently with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Victor Osimhen and Kim Min-jae.
This is the dismantling of the behind the scenes crew that won the Scudetto, as coach Luciano Spalletti already walked away for a Sabbatical.
The issues with Giuntoli were evident, as he was not present at the press conference for new coach Rudi Garcia.
