Sampdoria confirm Marco Giampaolo has returned to the club, signing a six-month deal with an option for two more years.
“Sampdoria welcome Marco Giampaolo back to the club as the first-team coach until June 30, 2022, with an option until June 30, 2024.
“President Marco Lanna, the board of directors and the whole club wish good luck to the coach and his staff.”
Sampdoria sacked Roberto D’Aversa earlier this week after he only managed 20 points in 22 games this season.
The Serie A side are just four points above the relegation zone.
Giampaolo, 54, returns to Marassi after a three-year spell between 2016 and 2019 when he won 49 of his 123 games in charge of the Blucerchiati.
