Genoa have officially signed Mexico international defender Johan Vasquez from Pumas for a reported €3.5m.

The centre-back can also play as a left-back and turns 23 in October.

He has two senior caps for Mexico and just won the bronze medal with his country at the Tokyo Olympics.

Vasquez’s previous clubs include Cimarrones and Monterrey, moving to Pumas in January 2020.

He had his medical on Friday and it is reported to be a loan with obligation to buy for a total of €3.5m.

It has been suggested that former Genoa and Inter striker Diego Milito recommended the player to the Grifone.
