Genoa have officially signed Italy Under-21 international hitman Kelvin Yeboah on a permanent transfer from Sturm Graz, the nephew of ex-Leeds United striker Tony Yeboah.
The 21-year-old was born in Ghana, but moved to Italy at the age of four and has two caps for the Azzurrini at Under-21 level.
He went to Austria in 2018 and reached Sturm Graz in February 2021, making a huge impact with 14 goals and 10 assists in just 28 competitive games this season.
“We are very happy to have brought back to Italy a player who was very attractive on the market, young but already with a lot of experience and excellent statistics over the past few seasons,” Genoa director Johan Spors told the club website.
Sky Sport Italia report the fee was agreed at €6.5m for the permanent transfer of Yeboah to Marassi.
He plays primarily as a centre-forward, but can also work on the right or left of a trident attack under coach Andriy Shevchenko with the Rossoblu.
Kelvin comes from a football family, as his uncle is former Ghana, Leeds United, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hamburg striker Tony Yeboah.

Perhaps more Seria A club owners, “sporting directors,” and managers will follow Genoa’s example and sign promising young Italian or Italian national players.
@ Vittorio
I really hope you’re right. It seems the censuses of most people who post on here are of the same view. It’s definitely the clubs that aren’t as powerful in Italy that are more willing to give Italian youngsters an opportunity and it’s great to see them leading by example. Hope Kelvin gets his chance to shine!
