Genoa have officially confirmed the signing of young striker David Ankeye on a permanent deal from Moldovan Super Liga side Sheriff Tiraspol.
According to reports from Sky Sport Italia and others on Wednesday morning, Genoa have paid a fee in the region of €3m to secure Ankeye’s services.
Ankeye completed his medicals with the Rossoblu on Wednesday morning prior to the club’s official announcement. He will wear the no.30 shirt during his first few months in Serie A.
The 21-year-old Nigerian has signed a three-and-a-half year contract, which will run until the summer of 2028.
Ankeye has been in fine form in the Moldovan Super Liga this season, registering five goals from 13 appearances. Only five of those outings were as a starter.
Anyeke has enjoyed his first experiences in European competitions as well, grabbing a goal and an assist in the Europa League group stages, as well as two goals in the Champions League qualifying rounds in the summer.
