Genoa have officially signed Uruguay international Gaston Pereiro as a free agent amid an injury crisis.
The 29-year-old was out of contract following the end of his experience with Cagliari last season.
Today he passed a medical and put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the current campaign.
Pereiro is no stranger to Italian football, having already played for Cagliari from 2020-23, going on loan to Nacional and Ternana before returning to Sardinia.
He also played for PSV Eindhoven and now has 54 Serie A appearances under his belt, with seven goals and three assists.
The creative midfielder has five goals in 13 senior caps for Uruguay.
Genoa had to bring in reinforcements after Ruslan Malinovskyi was ruled out for the rest of the season with a fractured ankle.
This might not be the end of their transfer work outside of the regular window, as Mario Balotelli has also been in talks for a potential move to Marassi.
