Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez won’t take part in the World Cup with Argentina following an injury during today’s training session.

The Argentinean federation has confirmed that Nico suffered a muscle injury today, so he’s been replaced by Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa for Qatar 2022.

Nico was one of the six Serie A players called up by Argentina for the World Cup. He was not involved in a 5-0 win over UAE on Wednesday and is now set to return to Italy.

The 24-year-old has been struggling with injuries this term, collecting just 390 minutes in 10 appearances and scoring four goals.

Argentina will make their debut at Qatar 2022 against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, November 22.

Mexico and Poland are the other two countries in group C.

Paulo Dybala, Angel Di Maria, Joaquin Correa, Lautaro Martinez and Leandro Paredes are the other five Serie A players part of the Argentinean squad in Qatar.
