Fiorentina have officially signed Luka Jovic on a free transfer after Real Madrid cut their ties with him.

The 24-year-old Serbian forward has signed a two-year contract with the Viola with a two-year extension clause attached that could see his wages doubled from €2.5m net per season to €5m net.

Real Madrid released Jovic on a free transfer, paying him €5m across two years in severance, but his move to Fiorentina includes a 50% future resale clause in favour of Los Blancos.

Jovic struggled to impress in the Spanish capital after making a €63m move from Eintracht Frankfurt back in July 2019. He only scored three goals and provided five assists in 51 appearances for Real Madrid during his time at the club, failing to hit the heights seen in Germany.

For Eintracht Frankfurt, Jovic netted 40 goals and provided 10 assists in 93 games. He’ll be hoping to relaunch his career in Florence after a difficult few years.

  1. 50% sell-on fee is not steep at all.

Fiorentina basically got this guy for only 5M for 2 seasons (his salary), and POSSIBLY getting more cash if other clubs wants to buy him. Real Madrid took a huge one here, they gave him away for free and EVEN paid him severence fee. Was he REALLY that bad? He simply took the wrong choice in the wrong time of his career IMHO, before joining RM, he was wanted by a lot of teams and was showing enormous potential. Huge W for Viola here.

  2. Could’t believe Madrid let jovic go for nothing after bought him for 60M. He’s better than Origi or Arnautovic and 50% of his salary is also paid by Madrid. That’s only 2.5M/year. Why couldn’t Milan or Juve get him
