Fiorentina announced the signing of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy on Saturday.

Gollini spent last season on loan at Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur but made just 10 appearances across the Europa Conference League and domestic cups.

He returned to parent club Atalanta in the summer but will be at Fiorentina for the next 12 months and potentially beyond should they take up their option to make the deal permanent.

Gollini actually started in Fiorentina’s academy before joining Manchester United’s youth side in 2012 and the then returning to Italy with Hellas Verona two years later where he made his professional debut.

In 2016, he was signed by then English second-tier side Aston Villa, where he made 20 appearances before joining Atalanta on loan for two seasons 12 months later.

Gollini joined La Dea permanently in 2019 and made 100 appearances for the club in total.

The 27-year-old has one Italy cap which earned in 2019.
