Festa is a 46-year-old ex-Cagliari defender who had worked at the club as assistant manager and then in the Primavera youth team from 2010 to 2012.
He spent last season as Coach of Lega Pro outfit Lumezzane, but was fired in March 2013.
Festa’s playing career included spells at Inter, Roma, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth.
Zeman had started the campaign on the Cagliari bench, was sacked to make way for Gianfranco Zola in late December and recalled in March.
They are stuck in penultimate place and look to be heading for relegation into Serie B.
