Felix Afena-Gyan has renewed his contract with Roma until 2026, extending his stay in the Italian capital.

The 19-year-old Ghanaian forward joined the Giallorossi in the January 2021 window from EurAfrica FC on loan before making a permanent transfer the following summer. He was promoted to the Roma first team by Jose Mourinho earlier this season, making his Serie A debut in a 2-1 win over Cagliari.

As announced by Roma, Felix Afena-Gyan’s contract has now been renewed until 2026, extending his stay in the Italian capital by a year. He’ll be looking to continue his development under Mourinho in the upcoming season, building on the progress made last campaign.

The Ghanian teenager expressed his pride at the contract renewal, underlining his happiness with the Giallorossi.

“I am really happy to have signed this contract renewal, since I arrived at this club my goal has been to reach the first team and when I succeeded my life changed so much.

”Now I only have to think about improving, I am motivated to start the new season in the best possible way.”

Sporting director Tiago Pinto highlighted the club’s belief in Felix Afena-Gyan and what he can achieve in Rome.

“Felix has great margins for improvement, with the opportunity to be able to develop his potential to the full under the guidance of Mourinho, who is decisive in the growth process of our youngsters.

“This contract renewal also represents further proof of how the relationship between the youth sector and the first team is becoming closer and closer.”

  1. Who said Mourinho always relies on money and ready made players. He’s able to promote youngsters too. Felix and Zalewski too. Just sell Zaniolo the Juve fan already, Felix is more than capable as his replacement.
