Roma gave the 35-year-old former captain the go ahead to join Inter after reaching an agreement with the Beneamata over a compensation to avoid any losses from the striker’s departure.

Dzeko has reportedly signed a two-year deal at San Siro worth €5m a season and continues his career in the Italian top flight.

The former Manchester City striker arrived from the Premier League in July 2016 and has contributed 119 goals in 260 competitive games with La Lupa.

His future had been uncertain since a falling out with former coach Paulo Fonseca last season and the veteran was subsequently stripped of the captaincy at the Olimpico.

“FC Internazionale Milano announce that Edin Dzeko is a new Nerazzurri player,” the club wrote in a statement.

“The Bosnian arrives from Roma on a permanent deal and has signed a contract with the club until June 30, 2023.”
