Roma announced they have parted company with sporting director Frederic ‘Ricky’ Massara, as Gianluca Petrachi is already working for them.

Petrachi was coaxed away from Torino and has already been flying around Europe taking meetings on behalf of the Giallorossi, including on Tuesday with representatives of Shakhtar Donetsk Coach Paulo Fonseca.

“AS Roma and Frederic Massara can confirm that they have reached a mutual agreement to bring an end to their working relationship,” read a statement.

“Massara returned to the club for a second spell in June 2018. In March he was entrusted with overseeing the club’s sporting operations.”

He had been the right-hand man to Monchi, but took over when the Spaniard walked away in March.

“I would like to place on record my thanks to Ricky for his tireless and unselfish work at AS Roma,” said President Jim Pallotta.

“In both his spells at the club, Ricky has always conducted himself with the upmost professionalism and we all wish him well for the future.”

Massara had been at Roma since 2011, although he did leave for a short spell in the summer of 2017.

“I want to thank the club and president Pallotta for our time working together,” said Massara.

“I hope that the club and Roma fans achieve all the success they deserve.”
