Juventus confirm Douglas Luiz has joined the club from Aston Villa in a €50m deal.

Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz has joined Serie A giants Juventus for €50m, the Bianconeri confirmed with an official statement on Sunday.

“It’s official – Douglas Luiz is a Juventus player! The Brazil international has signed a 5-year contract until 30 June 2029 with the Bianconeri,” Juventus said in a statement.

The Bianconeri, one of the football clubs listed in the stock market, released the financial details behind the operation as well.

Official: Douglas Luiz joins Juventus from Aston Villa for €50m

“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that an agreement with Aston Villa Football Club for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Douglas Luiz Soares de Paulo has been reached for a consideration of € 50 million, payable in four financial years, with the addition of ancillary costs up to € 1.5 million. Juventus and the player have signed a contract of employment until 30 June 2029.”

However, Aston Villa will cover half of this transfer fee, as they will acquire Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea from the Turin giants for €25m combined.

Juventus and Aston Villa carried out negotiations over a swap deal involving Douglas Luiz, Iling-Junior and Barrenechea. The latter was included in the deal at a later stage after USMNT star Weston McKennie refused to leave the Bianconeri despite a contract expiring in June 2025.

Juventus are expected to announce Villa’s purchase of Barrenechea and Iling-Junior in the coming hours.

This means the Serie A giants would spend €25m cash to sign Douglas Luiz, scorer of 10 goals across all competitions with Aston Villa last season.
