Frosinone striker Federico Dionisi went under the knife for a torn ACL and will be out of action for six months.
A statement from the club confirmed he had the surgery on his left knee, performed by Professor Ramon Cugat in Barcelona.
Dionisi is expected to recover from the operation in around six months.
It is a heavy blow for Frosinone, as the 31-year-old was decisive in their promotion from Serie B last season, scoring 10 goals.
