However, the arrival of Philippe Coutinho made him surplus to requirements, and the Spanish international was heavily linked with a return to Serie A.
This evening though the Catalan club have confirmed that their youth product will instead head to England for the remainder of the season.

“FC Barcelona and Watford Football Club reach an agreement on the loan of Gerard Deulofeu until 30 June 2018,” the Blaugrana announced on their official website.
“The agreement sees the English team cover his salary and a potential add on of one million euros.”
