Sassuolo will get €30m from Hamed Traorè’s sale to Bournemouth, but the Premier League side will only make his move permanent at the end of the season.

Both clubs have confirmed the deal through their websites on the deadline day. Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali said on Tuesday that the transfer package for the 22-year-old is around €30m.

“We had made a request which they [Bournemouth] have just fulfilled. We didn’t want to sell at a different price and we managed to finalise the deal. We had a problem because Traore’s contract expired in 2024,” he said.

Traore has signed for the Premier League club on an initial loan deal, but Bournemouth will make his move permanent at the end of the season.

The Cherries pounced on the Ivory Coast international following Nicolò Zaniolo’s snub. Multiple reports in Italy claim Zaniolo had initially rejected Bournemouth’s offer but changed his mind on Monday night. However, it was too late by then, as the Premier League side had reached an agreement to get Traorè.

The Ivory Coast international played for Empoli and Sassuolo in Serie A and scored 18 goals in 140 appearances in Italy’s top flight.

“Hamed is another exciting prospect and we are delighted to have secured his services,” said Bournemouth director Neill Blake.

“He is young, ambitious and one of the hottest talents from Serie A. He fits the profile of the type of player we are looking to recruit and will significantly add to our creative resources.

“Hamed’s arrival takes to six the number of new signings we have made this month and the squad is looking strong for the second half of the season.”

Bournemouth also signed Matias Vina from Roma in the January transfer window.
