Paolo Dal Pino confirms he has moved to California and therefore must step down as Lega Serie A President.
Dal Pino had been appointed Lega Serie A President in January 2020, just a few months before the beginning of the COVID pandemic.
He has now stepped down from his position, announcing his decision with a formal letter published on the official website of Lega Calcio.
“In January, California became the core of my professional and private life, so I can’t continue with my role as Lega Serie A President,” wrote Dal Pino.
“It has been an honour to lead the Assembly and the Board of Directors of this Association and I thank you all for you for these two years together.
“Since the beginning of my mandate, I tried to address the critical issues of Serie A Governance and innovation, continuing the creation of a Media Company and the entry of Private Equity funds.
“The first project was actually carried out with the IBC centre in Lissone, thanks to the structure of the Lega. I hope that there will also be the transformation of Governance soon, with a public company model.
“The proposal for funds has, on the other hand, was not successful for the reasons you all know.
“I tried to propose ideas and innovation in a climate resistant to change.
“I am proud to have worked with a very close unity of intent with the FIGC and I thank the Federal President Gabriele Gravina.
“A gentleman, a lover of this sport and an inspired guide of Italian football with principles of fairness and sporting loyalty, which we shared over two years of battles to survive the pandemic and try to relaunch Italian football amid endless external and internal difficulties.
“I wish you all good work and great success.”
