Napoli have officially announced the appointment of Antonio Conte, who has signed a three-year contract with the club.

The 54-year-old Italian coach had been out of work for a little over a year after his departure from Tottenham back in March 2023, having struggled to show his best in the Premier League due to various personal issues.

Conte was keen to return to Serie A and was linked with a handful of jobs including Milan and Juventus before deciding to take on a fresh project with Napoli, who failed to show much of note following their Scudetto success of the 2022-23 campaign.

As officially announced today, Conte has been appointed the new head coach of Napoli, signing a three-year contract with the club lasting to June 2027. Recent media reports suggested that his deal doesn’t include any release or exit clauses.

The Italian coach explained his move, saying: “Napoli is a place of global importance. I’m happy and excited at the idea of sitting on the Azzurri bench.

“I can certainly promise one thing: I will do my utmost for the growth of the team and the club. My commitment, together with that of my staff, will be total.”

Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis also discussed the appointment, commenting: “I’m very proud that the new coach of Napoli is Antonio Conte.

“Antonio is a top coach, a leader, with whom I’m sure that the necessary refoundation can begin after the conclusion of the cycle that led us to win the Scudetto last year after many seasons at the top of Italian football. Today an important new chapter in the history of Napoli opens.”

  1. If Conte can fix the rot within the club I’ll be very impressed, but I’m almost certain there will be friction between him and ADL. Welcome back to Serie A and good luck.
