Serie A newcomers Como have officially signed midfielder Yannik Engelhardt from Fortuna Dusseldorf in a deal believed to be worth €8m.

The 23-year-old completed the transfer to Italian soil this evening, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

According to reports, the cost of the operation is approximately €8m plus another €1m in performance-related bonuses.

A product of the Werder Bremen youth academy, he went on to SC Freiburg and was then sold to Fortuna Dusseldorf in the summer of 2023 for €3.8m.

He has represented Germany at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 levels, but has no Bundesliga experience, only playing in the second and third German divisions.

Como welcome Engelhardt

“Yannik joins us following a very good season in Germany. His reputation as a player is growing. He brings a lot of energy and intelligence. We are excited to work with him and help to develop and grow with our team,” coach Cesc Fabregas told the official Como website.

Promoted in second place in Serie B last season, Como have been very active in reinforcing the squad with signings such as Emil Audero, Pepe Reina, Raphael Varane, Alberto Dossena, Alberto Moreno and Andrea Belotti.
