Milan remain focused on Renato Sanches, as another of their targets – Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka – has officially agreed a transfer to Chelsea.

The Rossoneri are still seeking a midfielder to replace Franck Kessie, who left as a free agent to join Barcelona.

Among the candidates mentioned over the last couple of weeks there was also 18-year-old Chukwuemeka of Aston Villa, who was down to the last year of his contract.

However, today Chelsea and Aston Villa both released statements confirming an agreement had been reached and he will travel to London to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

The asking price was over €15m for a largely untested player, and it’s reported Chelsea ultimately paid circa €24m including bonuses (£20m), so Milan continue to pursue Portugal international Renato Sanches for a similar figure.

The Rossoneri have already agreed a fee with LOSC, but the player had preferred Paris Saint-Germain with a higher salary, even though the club was not prepared to meet the asking price.

With the situation still in stasis and the Ligue 1 season kicking off this weekend, Renato Sanches is increasingly frustrated and could turn back to Milan.

  1. Difficult to compete with those ridiculous fees English teams pay. 24m for a nobody with one year in his contract is too much. No wonder why Inter asked 50m for Dumbfries…

  2. @DB Milan … Money ? He is only 18 , maybe he is thinking 4 years there then move on ? Way too much for an untested player.

  3. He’s highly rated so it makes no sense to me. He won’t get near the Chelsea team but yeah, money will be better than at Villa. His career might be gone by the time he’s making his next move though.

  4. It’s a shame. I understand moving abroad may be a big thing for some young players. Joining Chelsea he will get more money and stay in his homeland but as far as his career goes, I can’t see him getting in there 1st team as a regular. At Milan he would have earned less but would have played more and Pioli has proven himself great at developing young talent. Milan and Barca couldn’t match that kind of transfer fee so win win for Chelsea and Villa.

  5. I don’t know why you Milan fan are complaining about the fees been high, when Juventus paid 50 m for a player that will be available for 15m in January , you guys justified it. its a pity Italian league will soon turn to psg. or Chelsea
