Bologna have officially announced the signing of Sweden winger Jesper Karlsson on a permanent transfer from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar.

According to previous reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, it is believed that the Rossoblu have paid somewhere in the region of €10m-€11m to lure Karlsson away from the Netherlands.

The Sweden international had plenty of interest from Serie A this summer, with Lazio, Napoli and Fiorentina all having expressed an interest at various stages of the transfer window.

Karlsson has come up with 35 goals from 89 league appearances for AZ Alkmaar since joining from Elfsborg for a fee of around €2.6m in August 2020. He has also earned 11 caps for his country, scoring three, all of which have come this calendar year.

Bologna supporters had a chance to see what Karlsson has to offer during a recent pre-season friendly between the Rossoblu and AZ at the beginning of August. The Dutch side ran out 1-0 winners.

Bologna later shared a series of Karlsson’s highlights from that game on their social media channels, with the player sharing the message: “Don’t worry, I’m with you now.”
