Bologna have confirmed Vincenzo Italiano’s appointment as their new head coach.

Italiano has signed a two-year contract with Bologna and will replace Thiago Motta at the Stadio Dall’Ara, leading the team in their first Champions League campaign since 1965, when it was still called the European Cup.

Bologna hire Italiano – the official statement

“Bologna FC 1909 can confirm the appointment of Vicenzo Italiano as the new head coach of the Men’s First Team. He has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2026,” the Rossoblu said in a statement.

“Born in Karlsruhe (GER) on 10/12/1977, his coaching career has taken him to Trapani, Spezia and Fiorentina. He has achieved one promotion from Serie C, and one from Serie B, has twice guided his team to Europa Conference League qualification, reaching the final on both occasions, and has made it to one Coppa Italia final. He will give his first press conference as Bologna boss next week.”

Italiano left Fiorentina after the final game of the season against Atalanta last week and has been replaced by Raffaele Palladino at Stadio Franchi.

Italiano’s predecessor, Thiago Motta, is expected to sign with Juventus in the coming days.
