As expected, Bologna have completed the signing of centre-forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bayern Munich, a return to Serie A after his previous spell on loan at Parma.

The 21-year-old striker has made the move for €8.5m and Bayern are owed a percentage of the sell-on fee when he leaves the Stadio Dall’Ara.

It is a return to Italy for Zirkzee, who spent six months on loan at Parma from February to June 2021.

Last season he was loaned to RSC Anderlecht, where the Dutch Under-21 international proved what he is capable of with 18 goals and 13 assists in 47 competitive games.

The Parma loan experience was not exactly eventful, as Zirkzee made only four competitive appearances for the troubled club, for a total 108 minutes of football, amid injury concerns.

Zirkzee is the sixth player from the Netherlands to wear the Bologna jersey and put pen to paper on a contract to June 2026.
