Bologna have officially sacked Coach Filippo Inzaghi and replaced him with Sinisa Mihajlovic.

A statement on Bologna’s official website thanked Inzaghi for his ‘passion and professionalism’, while confirming Mihajlovic had signed a contract until the end of the season, with the option for a further season.

The option is widely expected to be on the condition the Serb manages to keep the Rossoblu in Serie A.

The option is widely expected to be on the condition the Serb manages to keep the Rossoblu in Serie A.

It marks a return to the Dall’Ara for the 49-year-old, who failed to last the 2008-09 campaign in charge and was sacked by Sporting CP in June, just nine days into his tenure.

Nonetheless, he is vastly experienced in the Italian top flight, having also worked for Fiorentina, Catania, Sampdoria, Milan and Torino.

Mihajlovic replaces Inzaghi, who led Bologna to just two wins from 21 League games in his first season at the helm to leave them in the Serie A relegation zone.
