Sassuolo icon Domenico Berardi has officially extended his contract to June 2027, effectively committing his career to the club.

His current deal was due to expire in the summer of 2024 and every year it seems he is linked with a move away, only to remain at the Mapei Stadium.

The 28-year-old Italy international was most recently linked with Juventus, Inter, Milan, Fiorentina, Roma and Napoli, but nobody would reach the €40m asking price.

Berardi spent his entire career at Sassuolo, emerging through their youth academy and briefly being in a co-ownership status with Juventus, but famously refusing to move to Turin.

He has made 327 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 121 goals and providing 84 assists.

His performances for the Neroverdi also earned him a regular spot for the Italy squad, with 24 senior caps and six goals.

The player further consolidated his status within the club by changing his number to 10 this season.

  1. We always say we miss those loyal one-club players, but its also a shame to see that such a talent will never take the step up in his career.
