Andrea Belotti has officially signed for Roma as a free agent and reunites with his former Palermo teammate Paulo Dybala.

The 28-year-old Italy international had been at Torino from 2015, but his contract expired on June 30 and he rejected several other proposals, including Galatasaray, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Valencia and Monza, in order to wait for the Giallorossi.

They needed to release one of their forwards first, which happened this weekend with Felix Afena-Gyan’s permanent transfer to Cremonese.

Il Gallo – known for his trademark rooster’s coxcomb celebration – had his medical yesterday and today before signing on for Roma.

The club’s social media team teased his arrival with a shot in shadow of Belotti’s eyes making his celebratory gesture.

Belotti had already played alongside Dybala at Palermo from 2013-15.

The Italian has scored 106 Serie A goals in 270 games, also contributing 27 assists.

His record for Italy at senior level is 12 goals in 44 caps.

  1. Interesting, because FI haven’t already written 20+ ‘articles’ about this transfer already. Nice to see it finally mentioned.
