Bayern Munich have announced the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus.

The Bavarian giants have been in talks with the Bianconeri for a number of weeks now regarding a move and the sale of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona last week finally gave them the required resources to close out a deal.

As announced by Bayern, De Ligt has signed a five-year contract with the club after joining from Juventus in a deal worth around €67m plus €10m in add-ons.

The Dutch defender joined Juventus from Ajax in July 2019 after completing a €85.5m move. During his three years in Turin, De Ligt made 117 appearances across all competitions, helping the side win a Scudetto, a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana.

In Piedmont, De Ligt was able to work closely with veteran defenders Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, adding another layer to his defensive play and making him a more complete defender.

  1. Fantastic piece of business from the 7/9 CL runners up winners. €85.5m to €77m, a loss but after all Don Moggi and Don Beppe are not there to wheel and deal.

  2. Next year Juve would have lost around 20 to 30 Million in de Ligt cause of his contract situation so its a good deal with regard to his leaving ambition.

I was never fully convinced if him, though he is a great fighter!

  3. LORD ALLEGRI PATRON SAINT OF SLOW BALL says:Jul

Lol you dont count like that but sure Keep Hating. Now Juventus get better player in bremer for less money, and lower salary. Salty much?

  5. Hey JAZ and OTHERs, in case if you don’t know, our mighty LORD is actually a Juve fan! However, he hates ALLEGRI and certain managers in your team!!!! I understand you might be new here but you had to understand from his comments by now!! I sorta like his sense of humor though.

Not many understand the difference between amortization and depreciation. Furthermore, selling a player for more than you paid is much harder if the layer wants to leave. But that does not apply for lord dumbness and his pokemon calculator.
BTW, shInter just anounced that Sunning owe 250M credit to some chinese bank, and they are late with payments. Meanwhile, Juve buy Bremer for 40+7M. Now that is a great deal. 27M left to invest into another player (+ 5M salary for Bremer vs 8+2M salary for de Ligt).

  7. You don’t have to sell a player more than what you bought him for to make a profit. That’s not how it works. The 85M for De Ligt get divided by the years in his contract, that means 17M is the amortization cost for Juventus. Since MDL has two years left in his contract Juventus have to sell him for more than 34M to make a profit. And the sold him for 80 despite remaining stale for the past 3 years! And with half of that they bought the best defender in the league. Arrivabene and Cherubini are schooling everyone this summer.

  8. The people who come here to just gang up on Lord have only been Juve fans since 2012 when they started to win. No shame in that as I suspect they are younger fans. I for one really appreciate Lord’s comments as he calls it for what it is, gives this site plenty of attention and holds his ground.

  9. Vero Rossonero

You mean last years best centre back in not worth more than 30M? 25 years old, never injured, scored more goals than any other center back last 3 years is worth 30?

Skirinar is worth 70? De Ligt worth 75?

    Yeah sounds about right

  10. Selling de ligt not profit but in terms of condition now juve made a great transfer… I hope this transfer window there will be more good player to come and good for long term as milenkovic + zaniollo + morata or belotti, paredes

    But need to sell
    Arthur
    Rabiot
    Kean
    Rugani
    Ramsey

I hope this 5 player will be qorth around 35 mio

  11. @Jaz, I don’t think Lord Allegri supports Inter. He may well be a juve fan who couldn’t stand Allegri. He’s got good sense of humour in expressing that.
Anyway Bremer is good, sure, but he’s not worth more than 30-35M because of 15M release clause in January and he’s only been really good for 1-year. Let see if he can maintain his form in Juventus to justify his now 50M price tag.
Dzeko’s salary is around 5-6M/year and he outscored every Juve’s striker last year.

  12. @Rian – he does not have a sense of humor and certainly his creativity has long dried up. He’s been using the same tired insults laced with homophobic and racist comments again and again and again. There’s nothing good intentioned from him at all. It’s just hate speech.

As for Bremer, he’s a good signing and one that is well adapted for Serie A. De Ligt never really gave Juve the sense that he wanted to “belong” or be there for a long time, On the other hand, Gleison looks quite well suited to the Italian league!. Everyone gains through this

  13. Good step up move for De Ligt. Now he has a chance to win CL not get humiliated in it every season…

  14. @Rian – he does have a sense of humor and certainly his creativity has long gotten better. He’s been using the same great insults laced with love and affection, comments again and again and again despite me having to use a name dedicated to him. Wokeness in full force and hypocrisy, what hypocrisy. There’s such good intention from him. It’s just hate speech to me but what can I do, my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am also identifying as a cat. Meowwwwwwwww.
