Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Franck Kessié as a free agent after the end of his contract with Milan. He has a release clause of €500m.

The Ivory Coast international refused a contract extension with the Rossoneri last season and has signed a contract until 2026 with the Catalans.

Barcelona have just confirmed his signing through their social media. Kessié, also known as ‘The President’ at Milan had promised in August 2021 that he would have signed a contract extension with the Serie A giants, but in the end, he opted for Barcelona.

The Blaugrana have revealed that the former Milan man will have a €500m clause included in his contract.

He will be unveiled as a new player of the club on July 6.

The 25-year-old played 223 games in a Rossoneri shirt, scoring 37 goals. It’s the first time he has left Italy since he moved to Europe from Stella Club (Ivory Coast) in 2015.

Atalanta were his first club in Europe, but he was loaned out to Cesena in Serie B in 2015-16, when he collected 37 appearances. After one season at Atalanta, he joined Milan for €28m in 2017.

  1. It’s mandatory in La Liga for all players to have release clauses. Most of the players on longer contracts have similar ridiculous release clauses.

  2. @RossoNero83 might as well me 500,000,000,000,000,000 for what difference it makes

All La Liga players have release clauses – in this case it’s no reflection on the players actual worth

  3. Dear Kessie, when Hakan left I had a party , when Gigio left I was worried until MM showed. You sir are a different story. I have complete faith in Maldini but have questioned why he would let you leave. Have always been a fan and will continue to be, best of luck El Presidente !
Wish you were still one of us!

  4. Wasn’t too keen on letting Kessie go, superb all rounder and very reliable, oh well, is what it is, probably that leech of an agent

  5. Acemilan. He left to win champion league which Milan can never get to with the 50M transfer budget. Can only miraculously get Milan serie A. Which will not happen again. MILAN WERE JUST LUCKY TO WIN SERIE A they are not the best team. Luck was on Milan side last season

  6. @ takeshaker… And where did Barca finish last year .

    La Liga 2nd
Copa del Rey Round of 16
    Supercopa de España Semi-finals
    UEFA Champions League Group stage
    UEFA Europa League Quarter-finals
To be clear Milan have had budget problems for many years , that is acknowledged and bemoaned by many fans. Milan have done something Barca haven’t be able to do and that is do more with less !

Also, if you look at my comment I am simply saying a heartfelt good bye to a player I wish had stayed.

  7. @ Takeshaker I think PSG and CITY have more than 50M and they have been trying for years with no success, so what is your point? and he is gonna win CL with Barca ? go home..

  8. We all wanted him to stay but it is what it is, nobody ever believe there is goalkeeper somewhere like Mike, who in every sense is better then Gigio.
If you agree to pay Gigio 12M and then Kessie 7-8M, then what are you gonna tell THEO,LEAO, TOMORI, MIKE and other when its their turn ? because they are definitely gonna ask for the same or more, Milan dont have that resources now, but they are getting near that level, its a gradual thing, and you can only succeed when you have players who are ready to feed into that process, and players like Gigio, Chala, Kessie? best thing is to let them go get their money somewhere else.

  9. so how much was his transfer to barca? with this signing for barca – must mean frenkie de jong will go to man utd
