It’s possible Inter did have to pay Sevilla a small sum as compensation, because there was a debate over whether the clause to automatically renew his contract had been activated.
“F.C. Internazionale is delighted to confirm that Ever Banega will wear the Nerazzurri shirt for the next three seasons," read the statement.
“The Argentina midfielder has racked up 299 league and cup appearances over the course of his career in Argentina and Spain, bagging 22 goals in the process.
“Banega has acquired a wealth of international experience, both in South America with Boca Juniors and Newell's Old Boys and in Europe with Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla. He has won the last two Europa Leagues and lifted the Copa Libertadores in 2007.
“A charismatic, ball-playing midfielder, Ever has earned 47 Argentina caps and scored four goals for the national side.
“He won the U20 World Cup in 2007 and an Olympic gold medal in 2008.”
