Milan Badelj has assured that ‘I didn’t consider other offers’ after officially leaving Lazio to re-join Fiorentina.

Fiorentina held a Press conference on Monday afternoon to unveil Badelj, despite there being no prior announcement of his return.

“I’ve never stopped loving Fiorentina and their fans,” said the midfielder.

“I only left the club a year ago only for sporting reasons, but now everything has changed. I didn’t consider other offers. I’d have stayed at Lazio if I couldn’t come back.

“Now I want to repay their faith in me. I didn’t shine at Lazio, above all because of myself.

“I consider my time there a minor failure, but I have to thank them for how they treated me.

“I haven’t come back expecting to wear the captain’s armband. It’ll be worn by a real man who deserves it.”

Sportitalia reports the Viola have paid €700,000 to loan the Croat for a season and reserved a €4.3m option to buy.

The 30-year-old moved to the Aquile on a free transfer last summer and won a Coppa Italia but started just 16 times in all competitions.

He played 140 times in four previous seasons with Fiorentina and becomes their third summer signing after Kevin-Prince Boateng and Pol Lirola.
