Atalanta’s Champions League decider against Villarreal has been rescheduled for Thursday at 18.00 GMT after tonight’s game was postponed due to snow.

The ground staff painted red lines and cleared the pitch, but the snow continued to fall on Bergamo.

After the kick-off was delayed by 20 minutes, the two captains and referee Anthony Taylor agreed it was best to reschedule the match.

Due to television rights clashing with the Europa League and Europa Conference League, it had originally been moved to 15.30 GMT (16.30 local time).

This has irritated the Atalanta fans, many of whom will be at work or school and therefore unable to attend.

After more negotiations, it was decided they would kick off at 18.00 GMT (19.00 local time), which should allow for most of those who had tickets to still be present.

It is a decisive fixture, because a win would send Atalanta through to the Champions League Round of 16 for the third year in a row.

A draw would put them into third place and re-route them into the Europa League instead.

It is also possible that a defeat, and Young Boys beating Manchester United, would eliminate Atalanta from Europe altogether by putting them bottom of the group.

  1. Atalanta might draw this match against Villarreal, Reason being the yellow submarine do not concede alot of goals since they have Unai Emery on the dug out . I do not trust Italian teams any more provided them I am very much attached to Italian SÉRIE-A .
