Atalanta have officially sold defender Merih Demiral to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, as announced by his video.

The Turkey international completed the transfer for a reported €20m plus bonuses after passing a medical.

The 25-year-old had first come to Serie A for Sassuolo in January 2019, before his sale to Juventus for €19.5m.

He went to Atalanta for €21m after an initial loan period, but had dropped down the pecking order after difficulties with coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Demiral played 91 Serie A games, contributing five goals and four assists from centre-back.

Al-Ahli have also signed Roma defender Roger Ibanez, Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle United, Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie, Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino and Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy this summer.
