Italy star Nicolò Zaniolo has officially signed for Aston Villa on loan with an option to buy from Galatasaray that becomes an obligation if certain conditions are met for a total of €44.375m.
The 24-year-old had his medical tests over the last couple of days and there had been reports of doubts arising from those examinations, as Zaniolo had two anterior cruciate ligament tears in January and September 2020.
It had been reported it would be a loan worth €3.5m with option to buy for a further €20m plus €7m in add-ons.
However, the official figures announced by Galatasaray show that Aston Villa are going to pay considerably more than that.
Their statement notes Villa will pay €5m for the season-long loan plus performance-related bonuses of a maximum of €1.375m.
There is indeed an obligation to purchase if certain conditions are met and that is set at €22.5m plus another €15.5m in add-ons.
If confirmed, that would take his total cost to €44.375m.
That is not including a 10 per cent cut of the future sale fee, which makes Zaniolo even more expensive for the Premier League outfit.
Galatasaray also owe 20 per cent of the sell-on fee to Roma, so that would be over €8m.
Those figures in British Pounds translate to a season-long loan for £4.27m plus £1.18m in bonuses, an option to buy outright for a further £19.21m and another £13.23m in add-ons.
The total would be £37.89m.
As long as he stays fit he could improve playing in the Premier League. It benefits Italy also. Oh good luck to Spalleti ! Forza Azzurri!
Lol they paid how much? Two ACL tears… outrageous so many of these Premier League teams get taken to the cleaners.
