Juventus midfielder Arthur has joined Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy after extending his contract with the Old Lady until June 2026.
The Bianconeri and the Tuscans have confirmed the deal through their official websites and social media accounts.
“Arthur has put pen to paper and renewed his contract with Juventus until 2026, and has joined Fiorentina on loan until June 30, 2024,” Juventus said in a statement.
“Returning from a loan stint at Liverpool, the 26-year-old will now continue his career with La Viola in Serie A.”
“Having arrived in the summer of 2020 from Barcelona, Arthur spent two seasons in Bianconero, making a total of 63 appearances and scoring one goal, before his move to the Premier League last year. Best of luck in your new experience, Arthur!”
The Serie A giants also confirmed the figures behind the deal. Fiorentina will pay €2m for the Brazilian’s one-year loan plus potential €2m add-ons. The Tuscans have an option to make the midfielder’s move permanent in 2024 for €20m.
Arthur was not part of Massimiliano Allegri’s project at the Allianz Stadium and had been training with other players on the market, including Leonardo Bonucci and Denis Zakaria.
“ACF Fiorentina is delighted to announce the acquisition of Arthur Henrique Ramos de Oliveira Melo from Juventus FC,” the Tuscans said in their statement.
“The midfielder joins on an initial loan deal which includes an option to purchase.
“Born in Goiana, Brazil, on August 12 1996, Arthur previously played for Gremio and Barcelona, making 72 appearances and winning a Liga title and a Spanish Super Cup with the Catalan outfit.
“The 26-year-old also has 22 Brazil caps to his name and helped his national team win the 2019 Copa America.”
Arthur spent the last season on loan at Liverpool but struggled with injuries at Anfield and only made one appearance with the first team. The Brazilian joined Juventus from Barcelona in 2020, scoring one goal in 63 appearances with the Bianconeri.
