Empoli have officially announced that coach Aurelio Andreazzoli will not be on the bench next season, as Paolo Zanetti is expected to take over.

The Tuscan club made the statement this evening, thanking Andreazzoli for his efforts in what was his third different spell at the Stadio Castellani.

The 68-year-old had also been at the helm from December 2017 to November 2017, then brought back again from March to June 2019.

Following a brief experience at Genoa, Andreazzoli came back Empoli again in June 2021 and took the side to a comfortable mid-table finish after their promotion from Serie B under Alessio Dionisi.

It is widely reported that Paolo Zanetti will be the new Empoli coach for the 2022-23 season, as today he officially terminated his contract with Venezia by mutual consent.

The Lagunari had fired Zanetti a couple of months ago, but he was still under contract with the relegated club, so this was the final step required.
