Italian tactician Carlo Ancelotti has officially been announced as the new head coach of the Brazil national team and will lead the Selecao into the 2026 World Cup.
Ancelotti will leave his position as head coach of Real Madrid at the end of the 2024-25 LaLiga season at the end of May and will officially begin work in his new role in charge of Brazil on May 26.
He will be in charge at least until the end of the 2026 World Cup and will have his first matches in charge in World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay on June 6 and June 11 respectively.

The Italian has spent the last four years of his career in Spain for a second stint with Real Madrid, which has brought two more Champions League titles, two LaLiga trophies, a Copa del Rey, two Supercopa de Espana titles, two UEFA Super Cups, a FIFA Club World Cup and a FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
He had already won a Champions League title, a Copa de Rey, a UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup with Madrid during his first stint.
All told, Ancelotti has five Champions League titles in his collection, two with Milan, plus league titles in Serie A, LaLiga, the Premier League, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga from his time in charge of Milan, Madrid, Chelsea Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

“The greatest national team in the history of football will now be led by the most successful coach in the world,” a statement from the CBF read on Monday.
“Carlo Ancelotti, synonymous wit historical achievements, was announced as the new coach of the Brazil national team by the President of the CBF, Ednaldo Roodrigues on Monday. He will lead Brazil until the 2026 World Cup and will already coach the team in the next two qualifying games against Ecuador and Paraguay next month.”
CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues added: “Bringing Carlo Ancelotti to lead Brazil is more than just a strategic move. It is a statement to the world that we are determined to reclaim top spot on the podium.
“He is the greatest coach in history and is now leading the greatest national team on the planet. Together, we will write new, glorious chapters for Brazilian football.”

It’s sad we have the most successful coach of all time and he won’t coach Italy . He would rather help Brazil win another time before Italy .
There’s a fairly high chance that he will become the first foreign coach in charge of a nation winning the world cup.
Really don’t like and he’s most likely ruled himself out of ever managing Italy. I don’t agree with the idea of a non-Italian ever coaching Italy so thank goodness we won’t compromise but it seems the Brazilians have lost patience with their baton spell. To think they could meet Italy and all the drama there – unthinkable. Carlo has gone down in my estimations!
